Individuals should learn to improve their physical living skills and how to use their innate talents in their early childhood. Consequently, if the child is taught physical living skills in early childhood, it will enable the child to develop greater self-confidence and to socialize more easily thereafter. The sampling of this study was composed of 256 randomly chosen families who were living in Konya city centre. Parents were asked to tick 41 physical living skills at home which children can do according to their age. These skills observed in the study were compared with different variables by the chi square method. According to the data gathered at the end of this study it appears that in our society generally parents tend to behave too protectively and teach their children about their physical responsibilities later than it would be desirable. When the situation is examined according to different variables, it appears that working mothers assign more physical living skills and responsibilities to their children at an earlier age than unemployed mothers do. Also, in this regard, middle income families give more responsibilities than low and high income families do. And finally, younger parents give more responsibilities than older parents do. Based on these findings, in order to accelerate the development of the children, parents are advised to give the children physical responsibilities that they are able to carry out.
