One of the most important developmental periods of life is early childhood. The child's primary caregiver is usually the mother. Therefore, maternal interest and interaction with child plays an important role in the development of the child from infancy. Mistreatment in childhood causes significant problems for the child. The mother’s mistreatment of the child may be the problem that will affect the child the most negatively. This study aimed to examine the factors affecting the level of abuse and the attention of mothers towards their children. The study also examined the relationship between mothers' levels of interest and abuse towards their children. The study group consisted of 95 mothers with pre-school children in the descriptive relational screening model study. The Parental Involvement Scale for the Child and the Parent Abuse Awareness Scale were used to collect the data. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, Spearman Brown Coefficient of Collection and CHAID analysis were used. As a result of the study, it was found that mothers' interest in controlling their children, improving their behavior, and developing their interest in school is moderate, while their interest in developing their interest is high. It has been determined that mothers with an age of 30 and younger, only daughters and both girls and boys, and the number of children is three or less, have a greater interest in their children's school. Teachers and mothers with nuclear families are more interested in developing their children's interests It was determined that the level of child abuse was higher in primary school and associate degree graduate mothers with a high interest in controlling their children. This situation can include emotional or physical abuse. The parent's interest in their child and the abuse behaviors affect the child in many ways, such as physical, social, and cognitive development, and it continues to be effective not only in the process but also in the later years of life. Within the scope of family education programs, educational studies to increase awareness between child control and abusive behavior can contribute to the prevention of maternal abuse against children.
