The purpose of this study was to determine the opinions of history teachers carrying on their duties in high schools related to drug addiction and media addiction. This study was a descriptive research carried out to learn the opinions of history teachers upon drug addiction and media addiction. Relational screening method as a descriptive screening model was used because the research tried to determine the opinions of history teachers as a sociologist upon drug addiction and media addiction that were efficient upon young people’s experiencing value erosion. The research was carried out with 130 history teachers chosen randomly among the teachers assigned in Mersin, Antalya and Ankara provincial centers in April 2016. After the literature review, the studies on drug addiction and media addiction were analyzed. In reference to the findings in the analyzed studies, the relevant questionnaire related to drug addiction and media addiction was prepared. Beside the questionnaire, an open-ended questionnaire form including 7 questions was also prepared. In the research, almost all history teachers were noticed to spend max 2 hours on the Internet daily, and they used the Internet more on “social media” and “educational programs and studies.” What comes first to the minds of history teachers on “addiction” was noticed to be internet and drug. History teachers considered students to reach the “drugs” easily. Furthermore, teachers also mentioned that uncontrolled use of the technological tools in educational environments triggered technological addiction of the students, parents complained on the time students spent on the internet because students spent most of their time on the internet, their educational process affected negatively, and there were non-social students due to the addictions.
