Abstract:

Bir milletin temelini aile kurumu oluşturur. Ailenin meydana gelmesinde, geçmişten günümüze kadar belirli kurallar ve yollar izlenmiştir. Evlenme gelenekleri dünyanın her yerinde görülmekle birlikte, eş seçimi ve evlilik törenleri, kültürden, toplumun benimsediği değerlerden, inandığı dinden etkilenerek oluşur. Bu evlenme geleneğinden biri de “kız kaçırma” yoluyla evlenmedir. Genelde toplum tarafından eleştirilen bu durum eskiye oranla az da olsa hala varlığını sürdürmektedir. Bu makale, Kars ili örnek olay ve literatür incelemesine dayalı olup özellikle Türk Kültüründe yaygın bir gelenek olan "Kız kaçırma" olgusunun halk bilimsel açıdan bir incelemesidir.
