Özet:

The convergence of interests could bring significant changes in the existing patterns of behaviour among the states, which is evident in the emerging alliance of Russia, China and Pakistan in South Asia. As in the case of Russia and Pakistan, the old animosity of the Cold War period has diminished and both countries have recognized the significance of the changing geopolitical realities. China and Russia have had a relationship of distrust in the past, however, both are aspiring to bring change in the world order, therefore, cooperation is deemed necessary. To Pakistan, China provides economic benefits in the wake of CPEC, while Russia provides an alternative to the western military technology. Russia is also taking keen interest in Afghanistan’s security situation as well as in CPEC. Evolving geopolitics of South Asia has brought India into a difficult situation where its old alignment with Moscow has been weakening due to the new partnership with United States. Moreover, Pakistan has been given a key role as a regional state which is threatening Indian hegemonic aspirations in South Asia. Therefore, the emerging power equation would have serious implications for India in the wake of a geopolitical competition in the region.
