There is a process of vocabulary replenishment that can be observed in the history of any language. The main reasons for borrowing foreign language elements are divided into external, which are based on close political, economic, and cultural ties, and internal, which are reduced to the need to provide names for new things and concepts. Early Russian loanwords are almost completely adapted with full compliance with the phonetic norms of the recipient language, new borrowings almost completely retain the sound qualities of the source language, contrary to the phonetic norm of the recipient language. The article describes the borrowed vocabulary, defines the thematic groups of loanwords, and provides examples.
