Abstract The situation of the world population refers to an urban reality, an accelerated march towards an increasingly urban planet. All this growing situation of nations increasingly populated by city dwellers, frequently by rural people who have become city dwellers, is inserted in the globalization that, like a tide, engulfs the world and its cities and towns. They lead the centers, interconnected by complex webs of financial relations, communications, and productions structured by this rising economy, megacities, described as global cities, to which others of a lesser rank are linked. Latin America is no exception to this situation and two of its megacities with their spaces of wealth and pockets of extreme poverty are considered as such: Mexico City and San Pablo.
