The Turkish Theatre can be evaluated in three sections as the Tanzimat Theatre, the Legitimate Theatre and the Republic Theatre. The first of these periods is between 1839-1908, the second between 1908-1923, and the last between 1923 and today. Concepts such as society's thought structure and lifestyle, culture, the concept of westernization, the censorship and control of art and art, the liberalistic environment, the nationalization have become the determining factors of these periods and have reflected the social, political, administrative, artistic and cultural understanding of the period to which they belong. During these periods, the Republic Theatre has developed and gained a new dimension in the light of Atatürk and the principles and practices he has presented. Not only a state man, but also a real artist, with the approach and support of Atatürk to the art, artist and theatre, the obstacles that the Turkish Theatre faces have been eliminated and the awareness that the theatre is a public service has been established as an important measure in achieving the level of contemporary civilization. One of the important innovations that Atatürk has brought to the theater is that it allows the Turkish woman to appear on the stage and to announce her voice. Ataturk's theatrical understanding, which is considered the first dramatist in Turkey, is based on three basic principles. The first is to educate the people, the second is to raise the level of culture, and the last is to ensure the development of the national theater. At the time of Ataturk, the main objective of the theatre is education. Ataturk, who believes the theater is the mirror of a country’s cultural level, has made it possible to deal with this art by supporting the state’s hand in the framework of public service. In this context, the construction and community of the municipalities during the Atatürk period, the establishment of the Turkish Fine Arts Association, the work of the theatre arms of the public, the opening of the theatre professional school, the establishment of new institutions and theatre communities, as well as the activities of the state theater and conservation, the Turkish Theatre developed and the foundations of the current position under the leadership of Atatürk were placed.
