Saruhanoğulları Beyliği ile Türk egemenliğine giren ve eskiçağlardan beri yerleşime sahne olan Ilıca kazası bölgesi verimli arazisi sayesinde başta hububat ve baklagiller olmak üzere çeşitli tarımsal ürünlerin üretildiği bir alan olmuştur. XVI. yüzyılda Ilıca kazasında hububat ve baklagil üretimini esas alan çalışmada kazada yetiştirildiği tespit edilen buğday, arpa, burçak, darı, çeltik, nohut, mercimek ve börülcenin yüzyılın ilk ve ikinci yarısındaki durumları ele alınmıştır. Buğdayın bölgede en fazla yetiştirilen hububat olduğu bunu arpanın takip ettiği, nohudun da en fazla yetiştirilen baklagil olduğu belirlenmektedir. Genel olarak bir üretim artışı olmakla birlikte arpa ve darı gibi ürünlerin üretim miktarlarında gerileme olduğu da göze çarpmaktadır. Ana kaynaklarını tahrir defterlerinin oluşturduğu çalışmada Ilıca kazasının zirai üretiminin geneline de kısaca değinilmiştir.
