Amaç – Çalışmanın amacı, kısıtlar teorisinin unsurlarından biri olan beş aşamalı sürekli iyileştirme süreci kapsamında konaklama işletmelerinde kısıtların tespit edilmesi, belirlenen kısıtların ortadan kaldırılması ve sonuçta işletme kârı üzerindeki etkilerinin incelenmesidir. Yöntem – Çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda Çankırı ilinde faaliyet gösteren dört yıldızlı bir termal otel işletmesinde vaka çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda uygulama yapılan termal otelde ilk olarak tanımlayıcı örnek olay çalışması gerçekleştirilerek otelin mevcut hizmet ve maliyet sistemi incelenmiştir. Daha sonra ise keşifsel vaka çalışması gerçekleştirilerek kısıtlar teorisinin beş uygulama adımı ile işletmenin performansını etkileyen kısıtın tespit edilmesi ve ilgili kısıtın giderilmesine ilişkin bir çözüm önerisi sunulması sonucunda işletmenin kârlılığına etkisi analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular – Yapılan uygulamada, otel işletmesinin 2019 yılı verilerinden yola çıkılarak kapasite kısıtının bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kapasite kısıtı, işletmedeki faaliyetlerin gerçekleştirilmesinde işletme kaynaklarının talep karşısında yetersiz kalmasından kaynaklanmaktadır. Kısıtın ortadan kaldırılmasına yönelik çözüm önerisi ile işletme kârında yaklaşık %11,13 gibi bir artış meydana geldiği gözlemlenmiştir. Tartışma – Çalışmada kısıtlar teorisinin beş adımlı sürekli iyileştirme modeli uygulanarak otelin faaliyetlerindeki kısıtlar tanımlanmış ve kısıtın ortadan kaldırılmasına yönelik çözüm önerisi sunulmuştur. Öneri sonucunda işletmenin kârındaki değişim katkı tipi gelir tablosu yardımıyla açıklanmıştır. Bununla birlikte, uygulama yapılan otel işletmesine yıllık doluluk oranını artıracak bazı önerilerde de bulunulmuştur. Bu açıdan bakıldığında ise bir piyasa kısıtı görülebilmektedir. Satışların artırılması amacıyla yeni anlaşmalar ve kampanyalar düzenlenebilir. Tanıtım faaliyetlerinin ve sunulan hizmetlerin çeşitliliğinin artırılmasıyla talebin de artması, dolayısıyla da kârın artması sağlanabilir. Çalışmanın sonuçları bir bütün olarak konaklama sektörüne genellenemez. Bununla birlikte bu vaka çalışmasının sonuçları, diğer otel yöneticilerine kısıtlar teorisinden elde edilen sonuçları otellerinde uygulama konusunda rehberlik edebilir.
The aim of the study is to identify restrictions in the housing enterprises within the five-step continuous improvement process, which is one of the elements of the limitation theory, to eliminate the limitations identified and, in the end, to study their effects on the business profit. Method - in the study, the quality research method has been used. According to the purpose of the study, a case study was carried out in a four-star thermal hotel operation operating in the province of Chankırı. In this context, the thermal hotel applied first identifiable sample event work was carried out and the existing service and cost system of the hotel was examined. The investigative case study was then conducted and the impact on the profitability of the company was analyzed as a result of the five steps of application of the limitation theory and the identification of the limitation that affects the performance of the company and the proposal for a solution on the removal of the relevant limitation. Results - In the implementation, it has been found that the hotel business has a capacity limit based on the 2019 data. Capacity limitation is due to the lack of business resources in response to demand in the performance of activities in the enterprise. The proposal for a solution to eradicate the limit has seen an increase in business profits of about 11.13%. Discussions - The study applied the five-step continuous improvement model of the limitation theory, identified the limitations in the hotel’s activities and proposed a solution to eliminate the limitation. The proposal resulted in the exchange of the contribution in the profit of the enterprise with the help of the income table. However, some recommendations have also been made to increase the annual availability rate for the applied hotel business. From this point of view, you can see a market limit. New agreements and campaigns can be organized in order to increase sales. With the increase in the diversity of promotional activities and the services offered, the demand can also increase, and thus the profit can also increase. The results of the work cannot be generalized to the residential sector as a whole. However, the results of this case study can guide other hotel managers on the application of the results obtained from the limitation theory in hotels.
