Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the interests of teachers candidates studying in the Department of Primary Science Knowledge in astronomy in terms of different variables (gender, class level, academic success, type of high school graduated, the state of previously taking astronomy lessons, the state of previously going to a science center). The research has used a screening model. The study consists of 162 teachers candidates studying in a state university's Science Information Teaching. The research has used the "Astronomy Interest Scale" developed by Ertaş Kılıç and Keleş (2017) as a data collection tool. Data analysis is done with the SPSS statistical package program. According to the research results, the interests of teachers in astronomy are generally positive and high, the gender, the type of high school graduated, academic success, astronomy lessons are not varied according to the status; the class level, and the status of going to the scientific centers are significantly varied.
