Yeats imgeci şiirlerinde soyut kavramları somut sembollerle anlatır, bu bağlamda Yeats’in imge kullanımı Kavramsal Metafor Kuramındaki soyut-somut dönüştürmesine benzemektedir. Seçilmiş olan 5 imgeci şiirde hedef alan ve kaynak alanlar belirlenecek, Yeats’in kompleks soyut kavramları zihninde somut kavramlara dönüştürerek nasıl tasvir ettiği ve benzetilen ve benzeyen kavramlar arasındaki nakil tartışılacaktır.
Since Aristotle, the metaforic concept, which is commonly used for decorative purposes, requires superior talents and is seen as literary word art, has gained a new dimension in 1980 with the outstanding work of Lakoff and Johnson, and it has been revealed that the metafor is actually a cognitive, powerful and analytical comparison tool that reveals human thought to understand the complex world around us. Metafor adds richness, diversity and innovative meaning to the language. This study will reveal that by using Lakoff and Johnson's Conceptual Metafor Theory, interpreting the metaphoric reflections in the imaging poems of Irish poet William Butler Yeats, the poet forced the limits of comparison and narration through the metaphor mechanism. When the metafor is produced, calls in the target area and source area are exploited and abstract concepts are depicted by converting into concrete concepts. It is a transition between compared and similar assets. William Butler Yeats, who became a senator in the Independent Ireland State in 1922 and won the Nobel Prize in 1923, is known as the major cultural leader and poet of the 20th century. In his imaginary poems, Yeats describes the abstract concepts with concrete symbols, in this context, Yeats' use of the image is similar to the abstract-substantial transformation in the Theory of Conceptual Metafor. In the selected 5 imaging poems, the target and source fields will be determined, how Yeats’s complex abstract concepts are transformed into concrete concepts in his mind and the transfer between compared and similar concepts will be discussed.
