Okuma Güçlüğü Olan İlkokul Öğrencilerinin Covid-19 Sürecinde Uzaktan Eğitim Deneyimleri

Abstract:

Bu araştırmada, okuma güçlüğü yaşayan öğrencilerin Covid-19 sürecindeki uzaktan eğitim deneyimleri incelenmiş, öğrenci ve velilerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda çözüm önerileri geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma için Hacettepe Üniversitesi 11.02.2020 tarihli ve 35853172-300 sayılılı etik kurulu izni alınan araştırmada, uzaktan eğitim sürecine ilişkin okuma güçlüğü yaşayan öğrencilerin ve velilerinin düşünceleri elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada, nitel araştırma desenlerinden biri olan durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Yapılan bu araştırmada, okuma güçlüğü yaşayan öğrencilerin Covid-19 sürecinde uzaktan eğitim sürecine ilişkin durumları betimlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Öğrenci ve velilerin görüşleri araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiş görüşme soruları ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmaya ölçüt örnekleme yoluyla okuma güçlüğü yaşayan 6 ilkokul öğrencisi ve öğrencilerin velisi katılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri içerik analizi yöntemi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen öğrenci ve velilerinin görüşlerine göre, uzaktan eğitim sürecinin faydalı olduğu, okumalarına katkı sağladığı, Covid-19 süresince okumaya daha fazla zaman ayrılması ve öğrencilerin psikolojik sıkıntılarının giderilmesi gerektiği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca Covid-19 sürecinde öğrencilerin arkadaşları ve öğretmenleri ile görüşmelerinin sağlanmasının, öğrencilerin motivasyonu açısından önemli olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada, öğrencilerin okuma becerilerini geliştirmede ailelerin sürece dâhil edilmesi, öğrencilerin kitap okuma ya da okunan kitabı dinleme çalışması yapması gerektiği de belirtilmiştir. Okuma ve okuduğunu anlama becerisinin önem kazandığı günümüzde, okumaya her türlü ortamda değer verilmesi ve sahiplenilmesi gerektiği öğrenci ve velilerle yapılan görüşmelerde sıkça dile getirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak öğrenciler ve veliler okumanın hayatımızda önemli bir yere sahip olduğunu ve bunu devamlı olarak geliştirilmesi gerektiğini belirtmişlerdir.

Abstract:

In this study, students with reading difficulties studied the experience of remote learning in the Covid-19 process, aimed at developing solutions proposals in accordance with the opinions of students and their parents. For study, the research, which was approved by the Ethical Board of the University of Hacettepe on 11.02.2020 and numbered 35853172-300, obtained the opinions of students and their guardians who suffer from reading difficulties regarding the distance learning process. In the research, one of the quality research patterns has been used the situation study pattern. In this study, students with reading difficulties were attempted to describe the circumstances related to the distance learning process in the Covid-19 process. The opinions of students and guardians are obtained by interview questions developed by researchers. The research was attended by 6 primary school students and guardians of students who suffered reading difficulties through standard sampling. The data of the research is analyzed by the content analysis method. According to the study’s opinions, the distance learning process was useful, contributed to their reading, spending more time on reading during the Covid-19 period and removing students’ psychological problems. In the Covid-19 process, it has also been found that providing students with their friends and teachers conversations is important in terms of student motivation. The study also pointed out that families should be involved in the process of developing students’ reading skills, students should read books or listen to the book they read. Today, when the ability to read and understand what you read has gained importance, it is often expressed in conversations with students and guardians in which reading should be valued and possessed in any kind of environment. As a result, students and guardians pointed out that reading has an important place in our lives and that it needs to be continuously improved.

In this study, the distance education experiences of elementary school students with reading difficulties in Covid-19 process were examined and it was aimed to develop solutions in line with the opinions of students and their parents. In the study, the ethics committee permission of Hacettepe University dated 11.02.2020 and numbered 35853172-300 was obtained, and the opinions of students and their parents who had reading difficulties regarding the distance education process were obtained. In the research, case study pattern, one of the qualitative research patterns, was used. In this study, it was tried to describe the situations related to distance education process of elementary school students having reading difficulties in Covid-19 process. Opinions of students and parents were obtained through interview questions developed by the researchers. Six primary school students and their parents participated in the study with reading difficulties through criterion sampling. The data of the research were analyzed by content analysis method. According to the opinions of students and their parents, it was found that distance learning process is beneficial, contributes to their reading, during Covid-19, more time should be devoted to reading and psychological problems of students should be eliminated. In addition, it was found that providing students to meet with their friends and teachers during the Covid-19 process is important for students' motivation. In the research, it was also stated that families should be included in the process of developing students' reading skills, students should study or read the book. In today's world, where reading and reading comprehension skills gained importance, it has been frequently mentioned in the interviews with students and parents that reading should be valued and embraced in any environment. As a result, students and parents stated that reaiding has an important place in our lives and that we should constantly improve it.
