Abstract:

This study aimed to examine the relationships between perceived body image, life satisfaction, and assertiveness and also to determine the mediator role of assertiveness in relation to perceived body image and life satisfaction. According to the results of the analyses, it was determined that there were significant positive relationships between perceived body image and life satisfaction, perceived body image and assertiveness, and life satisfaction and assertiveness. In addition, according to the mediation analysis results, it was seen that assertiveness had a mediating role in the relationship between perceived body image and life satisfaction. When it is evaluated whether the scores of continuous variables differ according to sociodemographic characteristics, it is observed that the body image scores of female participants were lower than male participants. The life satisfaction level of married participants is higher than single participants. Additionally, associate degree college students’ life satisfaction level is higher than high-school graduate participants and bachelorette graduate students. It is thought that the current research results can contribute positively to the understanding of the effect of individuals' perceived body images and assertiveness levels on their life satisfaction.
