Abstract:

Semiotics is an analytical approach that examines the structures of narrative texts by revealing the components that make up their structure. It provides to reveal the structure of the narrative in different dimensions by determining the semantic and discursive planes that structure the texts. Textlinguistics, on the other hand, develops with linguistics' focus on supra-sentence structures, revealing the structures of texts and how they are constructed in terms of content and grammar, and explains them in an applied way. Textlinguistics, which describes the general conditions of text creation, separates the text from the non-text. In this study, it is aimed to analyze the story of Sait Faik, one of the writers of the Turkish literature of the Republic Period, known for his short stories, named Tüneldeki Çocuk, by using the possibilities of semiotic and textlinguistic analysis together. For this purpose, qualitative data on the structure of the text were obtained by using the document analysis method in this study, which was carried out in a qualitative research design. On the one hand, the text was divided into sections and sections in line with the steps of semiotic analysis, and the general arrangement of the narrative was revealed. Then, within the framework of Greimas's example of actors, the actors were determined and the axes establishing the relations between them were determined, and the processes and modalities that formed the narrative program were shown. Then, figurative contrasts were determined, space and description, use of time, point of view and thematic roles were revealed. On the other hand, under these headings, collocational patterns in the story were determined. The determination of reference elements was used in determining the thematic roles and point of view. In this way, the multi-layered structure of the text has been revealed with the contributions of two different analysis approaches. Accordingly, it is emphasized that it is necessary to make use of the possibilities of both semiotics and text linguistics as much as possible in order to reveal the structure of the analyzed narrative texts.
