Today, social media and internet platforms, which are becoming an indispensable part of popular culture, are very impressive about the place and importance of reading in society. The availability of information on these platforms, the rapid spread of it correctly or incorrectly, the openness to comment at any time, will make the reader and listening audience easily adapt to the system. People get a reflection of commenting. There is a close relationship between reading and understanding. Only reading is the vocation of the letter community, and understanding is compromised by the correct or wrong encoding of the messages transmitted to the brain. These assumptions allow you to comment. Interpretation is the whole principle of interpretation of efforts to make a text, expression, event or fact more understandable, as many authors agree in a common opinion. This scientific study is an illustrative analysis of the narrative techniques in the context of hermetic literary theory of Thomas Mann's work "The Lord and the Dog" (Herr und Hund). Qualitative research methods are studied by document analysis technique. Mann was born on 6 June 1875 as the son of Lübeck merchant and later Senator Thomas Johann Heinrich Mann. The longest story, "The Lord with the Dog", was written by Thomas Mann in 1918 and published in 1919. “The Lord and the Dog” is a representation of the life experience of the European bourgeoisie, who remains between the city and the countryside and refugees in the city.

This study first provided information about the writer, work and period. Hermetic theory and narrative techniques from the literary theories; then the narrative structure of the work, the narrative form, the narrative behavior and the narrative perspective of the events were addressed, and finally the process of time in the story was analyzed. According to the study, in terms of the functionality of reading and understanding, the hermeneutics should be placed as a basic course in the educational institutions.

This scientific study is a descriptive analysis of Thomas Mann's "The Master and His Dog" (Herr und Hund) on narrative techniques in the context of hermeneutic literary theory. It was examined by the document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods. Mann was born on June 6, 1875, to Thomas Johann Heinrich Mann, a merchant and later senator from Lübeck. The longest story, "The Master and His Dog," was written by Thomas Mann in 1918 and published in 1919. “The Master and His Dog” characterizes a representation of the life experience of the European bourgeoisie, which is between city and country and took shelter in the city.In this study, firstly, information is given about the author, the work and the period. Hermeneutic theory and narrative techniques from literary theories; Afterwards, the narrative structure of the work, the narrative style, the narrative behavior and the narrator's point of view on the events were discussed, and finally, the timekeeping in the story was analyzed.
