Özet:

This research was done in order to determine the level of understanding skills students who participate in Turkish and Turkish Culture courses abroad. The study group of the study forms two groups of 30 persons (experimental group 30, control group 30) consisting of fourth-class students who are mainly of Turkish origin who participate in the course of Turkish and Turkish Culture, by studying in the city of Nuremberg and around Germany. Working groups are determined by the simple non-selective sample method. The experimental group was conducted to understand that he was reading two hours a week for four months. The control group has not done this work. At the beginning and end of the second semester of the 2016-2017 academic year, the same texts were read to both groups, the students were asked to answer the questions about what they read in the groups, the students' answers were evaluated through the exam form and the measurement-evaluation form prepared by the MEB and the self-evaluation form. According to the preliminary test conducted before the study, the average score of students in the experiment group is 61.80; the average score of students in the control group is 61.60 and there is no significant difference in the average score between the groups. The average score of the exam after the application of the students in the trial group was 81.00 and the average score of the exam of the students in the control group was 62.13. According to these findings, the application has been found to have a positive impact on the student’s understanding of what they read. The study found that students in the reading-understanding practice experimental group developed their understanding skills that they read and read in accordance with the reading rules and that they were more successful than students in the non-applicated control group. Students feared reading at the beginning of the application were observed to be more willing to read at the end of the application.
