Sleep can be defined as a natural resting state in which the reaction force is weakened and all kinds of activities are greatly reduced by losing consciousness completely or partially to external stimuli. All mechanisms related to sleep have not yet been fully explored. Therefore, many studies on sleep are being studied in many countries around the world. Sleep plays a vital role in maintaining our health and well-being. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. Enough sleep and rest are necessary to enable children to achieve their developmental functions. Sleep is important for the child to perform his/her physical development and tasks in the best possible way. It is stated that sleep deprivation increases the careless behaviors of children and adolescents and affects behavior problems. For these reasons, sleep quality of nursery school children is important to maintain healthy growth and development, to preserve physiological and psychological health, and increase performance. Studies on sleep disorders have been increasing in recent years. Studies in several countries show that 70 of every 100 people living in the sleep disorder. Sleep related early life experiences are very important for sleep disorders. Therefore, the research will be carried out with pre-school children on sleep is very important in terms of the valuable contributions to the related literature. In addition, the current research is crucial to reveal parents’ level of practice, knowledge and skill while they are giving their children sleeping habits. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting sleeping habits of 3-36 months old children who are attending pre-school education. In this general aim, the differences in sleep quality of the children, the preferences of the children about the sleeping process in the home and school environment and the approaches of the adults (parents-teachers) to these preferences and sleep problems will be explored. Method: In this study, focus group interview was used as qualitative research methods. The study group included the teachers and 9 mothers with children in the group of 3-12 months, 13-24 months and 25-36 months in the nursery school of Abant Izzet Baysal University Preschool Education Application and Research Center. The interviews were conducted in two separate 60-minute sessions with the mother and pre-school teachers under the supervision of the moderator and two observers. After explaining the purpose of the interview, the open-ended questions prepared earlier were directed and active participation was emphasized. Negotiations were recorded on camera with the permission of the participants. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. Findings: As a result of focus groups interviews, it was found out that children had different individual preferences and problems in sleeping at home and school environment and also that mothers and teachers had different attitudes about the subject and that children experienced more intense problems especially at night in sleep, They found that they did not cooperate on nutrition in terms of sleep, teachers showed more consistent behavior in sleep, and children were more successful in following sleeping class rules. It has also been determined that sleep quality of children is an important factor in daily activities and participation levels. Conclusion: As a result of the research findings, it was seen that 3-36 months old children exhibited different attitudes and behaviors related to the sleeping process in the home and school environment, and adults' knowledge and experience were influential in this issue. When the habits acquired in the early period are taken into consideration the effects of the individual on the future quality of life, parents and teachers should be informed about the whole process starting from the sleep preparation phase and similar practices should be encouraged between home and institution.
