The aim of this study was to reveal the art perceptions of social studies teacher candidates and their opinions on the topics regarding art and on teaching them in the social studies course. In addition, this study evaluated the teacher candidates’ approaches to the topics in the “Art and Aesthetic” course in Social Studies Program at Undergraduate Level. For this reason, 86 sophomore teacher candidates studying at Akdeniz University, Social Studies Program at Undergraduate Level participated in the study within the scope of the “Art and Aesthetic” course. Document analysis and interview techniques were used in this qualitative study and the data were analyzed by “content analysis”. The results of the study generally indicated that the teacher candidates believe the necessity of teaching the topics regarding art but they think that they are not proficient enough to explain these topics and they believe that social studies teachers should train themselves about the topics regarding art. Moreover, it is possible to say those social studies teacher candidates’ opinions on the topics regarding art mostly changed positively within the scope of the “Art and Aesthetic” course and the more they are engaged in the topics regarding art the more they like and are interested in them.
