Bu çalışmada XVIII. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Osmanlı Devleti’ne Prusya elçisi olarak gönderilen Heinrich Friedrich Von Diez’inİstanbul’da kaldığı süredeki faaliyetleri üzerinde durulmuştur. İlk diplomatikgörevine 17 Mart 1784 yılında maslahatgüzar olarak başlayan Diez’in çalışmaları Prusya hükümdarı II. Friedrich Wilhelm tarafından beğenilerek 1786’da Türkiye elçiliğine getirildi. Prusya elçisi o yıllarda Avusturya ve Rusya’ya karşı bir müttefik olarak düşündüğü Osmanlı Devleti ile yakın ilişkiler kurmak için yoğun gayretler sarf etti. Aynı yıllarda (1787-1792) Osmanlı Devleti ile Rusya ve Avusturya arasında çıkan savaş, Prusya ile Osmanlı Devleti’ni birbirine yakınlaştırdı. Ortaya çıkan yeni şartlar karşısında Prusya elçisi Diez’in Babıâli’deki yoğun diplomatik çalışmaları sayesinde iki ülke arasında 1790 yılında Tecavüzî ve Tedafüî bir ittifak antlaşması imzalandı. Ancak Diez’in büyük gayretleri ile imzalanan bu antlaşma Berlin’de pek beğenilmeyerek elçinin görevine son verildi. 23 Mayıs 1790’da verilen talimatla İstanbul’dan ayrılan Diez’in 6 yıl süren İstanbul elçiliği Osmanlı-Prusya ilişkilerinin gelişiminde oldukça önemlidir. Araştırma konunun bu önemine binaen kaleme alınmış olup, Prusya elçisi Diez’in İstanbul elçiliği sırasındaki faaliyetlerini ayrıntılı bir şekilde ele almayı amaçlamaktadır

The Prussian ambassador made intense efforts to establish close relations with the Ottoman State, which he thought was an ally to Austria and Russia in those years. In the same years (1787-1792) the war between the Ottoman State and Russia and Austria brought Prussia and the Ottoman State closer to each other. In the face of the new conditions that emerged, thanks to the intense diplomatic work of the Prussian ambassador Diez in Babayli, a violent and therapeutic alliance treaty was signed between the two countries in 1790. But the treaty, which was signed with Diez’s great efforts, was very unpleasant in Berlin and ended the mission of the ambassador. The six-year Istanbul Embassy of Diez, who left Istanbul with the instructions given on May 23, 1790, is very important in the development of the Ottoman-Prussian relations. The research is based on this importance of the subject, and it aims to discuss in detail the activities of the Prussian Ambassador Diez during the Istanbul Embassy.

In the face of the emerging new circumstances, an alliance agreement of Rape and Tedafi was signed between the two countries in 1790 thanks to the intensive diplomatic work of Prussian ambassador Diez in Babıâli However, this treaty, signed with Diez's great efforts, was not well received in Berlin, and the embassy's mission was terminated. Diez, who left Istanbul for the instruction given on 23 May 1790, is very important in the development of Ottoman-Prussian relations for 6 years. This qualification of research has been taken and the Prussian ambassador aims to elaborate Diez's activities in the Istanbul embassy in detail.
