Populist political objects, which began in Europe in the 1980s and were intense in the 2000s, lead to the loss of the importance of the concept and principles of democracy. Populist policies implemented by governments can be perceived democratically and democracy can become defective. In countries where democracy is constantly in the sect, where the civil society is not yet formed, populist politics is damaging the demands of democracy. The rise of populism that appears like it, taking advantage of the vacuum and conflicts of democracy, has been a inevitable result of the modern era. This study was also attempted to reveal that the practices or statements that the democracy was a must have actually dominated the populist political logic and made democracy settlement stronger and defective and proposed solutions by making a comparison.

Populist policies implemented by governments might be perceived as democratic and through this way, democracy might become flawed. In countries where democracy is constantly interrupted and civil society is not fully formed, populist politics harms the democracy. The emer-gence of populism has been an inevitable result of this period due to the gaps and conflicts within democracy. In this study, it has been revealed that the practices and discourses argued as a prerequi-site of democracy actually dominate the logic of politics in the direction of populism and make democracy difficult to root in. A comparison along this line is made and solution proposals are pre-sented.
