After the foundation of city, Romans fought against Etruscans and various Latin – Italic tribes in the north, east and northeast of Italy and in the south she ended fights with success against Greek colonies (272 BC). After this the Carthagian wars were experienced in three seperate periods (264 – 146 BC). Following these, the wars against Hellenistic Makedonian (215 – 146 BC) and Seleucian kingdoms (192 – 190 BC) were came through. After all, Romans fought against Mithridates who was the most powerfull enemy after Carthagian Hannibal (88 – 64 BC). Finally in the time of Caesar the civil wars (49 – 44 BC) were experienced in Rome. Shortly we can say that Romans stayed in war and chaos during last 500 years. After this chaotic period, Romans started the invension of Mediterranean world and Adriatic coast. During this invension Romans fought against Illyrians who were setteled in the Adriatic coast. The war was started in 229 BC and ended with Octavians camps in 35 – 33 BC which was advenced up to River Danube. With the begining of Octavian’s camps first period of Roman – Illyrian relations were ended. New relations were more closely established in the time of Principate.
