Haber metinlerinin, sosyal mekanizmaları toplum adına gözetleyen ve şeffaf olarak sunan bir yapıya sahip olduğu düşünülmektedir. Ancak bu durum egemen gücün medyayı tekeline almasıyla birlikte uzun sürmemiş ve haber üreticilerine ele aldıkları konuları meşrulaştırıcı bir güç vermiştir. Eleştirel yaklaşımlar ise, iktidarın medya aracılığı ile gerçekleştirdiği bu meşrulaştırmaya karşı çıkmaktadır. Medya metinlerinin, haberlerin toplumsal iktidarın kurulmasındaki rolü söylem çözümlemesi ile sunulmaya çalışılmaktadır. Söylem çözümlemesi ile dilin ve temsilin nasıl üretildiğinin yanı sıra, temsil, anlam, iktidar arasındaki ilişkiler, kimlikler ve öznelliklerin oluşumu incelenmektedir. Eleştirel söylem analizi, güç, hâkimiyet, hegomanya, sınıf farkı, cinsiyet, ırk, ideoloji, ayrımcılık, çıkar, kazanç, yeniden oluşturma, dönüştürme, gelenek, sosyal yapı ya da sosyal düzen gibi temaları ön plana çıkaran ve araştırma alanı olarak bu konuları işleyen söylem analizi yöntemidir. Bu bağlamda çalışma, Türkiye’de öldürülen İtalyan sanatçı Giuseppina Pasqualino (Pippa Bacca) ile ilgili yazılı basında çıkan haberlerin farklı gazetelerde eleştirel söylem çözümlemesi açısından ne şekilde ele alındığını incelemek amacıyla oluşturulmuştur. Çalışma kapsamında Teun A. van Dijk’ın eleştirel söylem çözümlemesi modeli kullanılmıştır. Van Dijk, eleştirel söylem analizinde sosyobilişsel yaklaşımının kurucusudur, bu yaklaşım eleştirel söylem çözümlemesinin sosyo psikolojik yönüne aittir ve sosyal temsil kuramına dayanmaktadır. Van Dijk biliş, söylem ve toplum arasında etkileşim kurmaktadır ve güce erişim sağlama araçları olarak söylemin kontrolüne odaklanmaktadır. Daha çok stereotipleşme, etnik kötüye kullanım ve egemen gruplara direnme ile ilgilenmektedir.
It is believed that news texts have a structure that oversee social mechanisms on behalf of society and provides them transparently. However, this situation did not take a long time with the dominant power taking the media in one and gave the newsmakers a legitimating power on the issues they dealt with. Critical approaches, however, oppose this legitimation by the power through the media. The role of media texts, news in the establishment of social power, is attempted to be presented by speech analysis. In addition to the interpretation of speech and how language and representation are produced, the formation of representation, meaning, power, identities and subjects is studied. Critical speech analysis, power, sovereignty, hegemony, class difference, gender, race, ideology, discrimination, interest, profit, reconstruction, transformation, tradition, social structure or social order, is the speech analysis method that puts them in the forefront and processes them as a field of research. In this context, the study was created in order to explore how the news in the written press about the Italian artist Giuseppina Pasqualino (Pippa Bacca) who was killed in Turkey were discussed in different newspapers in terms of critical speech analysis. In the framework of the study, the critical speech resolution model of Teun A. van Dijk was used. Van Dijk is the founder of the socialist approach in critical speech analysis, this approach belongs to the social psychological aspect of critical speech analysis and is based on the theory of social representation. Van Dijk interacts between knowledge, speech and society and focuses on speech control as means of providing power access. He is more concerned with stereotyping, ethnic abuse and resistance to dominant groups.

In addition to how language and representation are produced through discourse analysis, the relations between representation, meaning, power, identities and the formation of subjectivities are examined. Teun A. van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis model was used in the study. Van Dijk is the founder of the socio-cognitive approach in critical discourse analysis, which belongs to the socio-psychological aspect of critical discourse analysis and is based on the social representation theory. Van Dijk; it interacts with cognition, discourse and society, and focuses on the control of discourse as means of providing access to power. He is more interested in stereotyping, ethnic abuse, and resistance to dominant groups.
