The companies should use their ressources effectively and efficiently in the service industy in which there’s intense competition. One of the most important ressources of the accomodation companies is their work force. The employees’ performance and efficience are the most important factors that affect the companies’s success. However, the employees’ performance and efficience depend on their job satisfaction. This study aims to find out the demographic characteristics of labor-intensive service sector employees which affects their job satisfaction. In order to reach the aim, the job satisfaction concept has been examined and a survey has been conducted for the staff of a five-star hotel in Istanbul. The findings about the demographic characteristics of the staff, factor analysis and the variance analysis has been used to analyze the data. Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale has been used to gather the data. As a result of the factor analysis applied to the propositons, four factors have been found out. These are the factors related to the structure of the job, the factors related to the managers and colleagues, the factors related to wage, promotion and working conditions and finally the factors related to the possibility of taking initiative. After applying the t test and the variance analysis, it has been found out that the job satisfaction level depens on the income, department, tourism education of the employee and does not depend on the age and the gender of the emplyee.
