Özet:

The aim of this research is to ensure that the faculty of education students adapt to the university through a program of orientation prepared with the creative drama method.  In this study, the preliminary test - the final test control group-free experimental research scheme was used. The research work group, in the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year, formed 24 volunteer teachers candidates to study at the Faculty of Education of an university located in the Mediterranean region that began the first class in different disciplines (matematical education, social information education, science knowledge education, classroom teaching and psychological consultancy education) in the different disciplines. As a data collection tool in the study, Aladağ, Kağnıcı, Tuna and Tezer (2003) used the University Life Scale (MED), which was developed to measure the levels of adaptation to university life of newly beginners in general, with the aim of measuring the different aspects of adaptation to university. Seven liquor species prepared for a original scale of a size consisting of 48 ingredients was removed because it was not intended for the purpose of the study and 41 ingredients were taken into use. The validity and reliability studies on the number of substances applied to the measurement ended with the Cronbach Alpha (α) value of 0.97. The data obtained from the teacher candidates in the study group with the University Life Scale (MED) is SPSS 21 in the computer environment. The findings analyzed and identified by entering the 0 program are interpreted by tables. The results of the study should be assessed in general, the study group teachers candidates have successfully achieved their adaptation to the university after the study and according to the durability test results performed 2 months after the study was achieved the durability of adaptation to the university. In light of these findings, it is possible to say that the orientation work prepared with the creative drama method in the processes of adaptation of teachers candidates to the university can be effective. Given the results of the study, it can be recommended to support the university adaptation programs, the content of the most possible adaptation programs to be achieved with creative drama events.

Özet:

This research aims to ensure the adaptation of students at the faculty of education to university by means of an orientation program that was prepared with creative drama method. In this study, experimental research design was used according to pre-test and post-test model without a control group. The study group of the research consisted of 24 volunteer preservice teachers who were in their first year at different departments (mathematics, social studies, sciences, classroom teaching and psychological counselling) of the Faculty of Education in Akdeniz University at the beginning of the academic year 2017-2018. For the data collection tool used in the study, University Life Scale (ULS) was employed, which was developed by Aladağ, Kağnıcı, Tuna and Tezer (2003) with an overall aim to measure different aspects of adaptation to university and the level of adaptation of students who have just started their university education. As the dimension of the original scale consisting of 48 items prepared in seven-point Likert scale was not found suitable to the purpose of the study, it was omitted, and 41 items were applied instead. As a result of the reliability and credibility studies conducted based on the applied number of items of the scale, Cronbach Alpha (α) value was determined as 0.97. The data obtained from the University Life Scale (ULS) administered to the preservice teachers in the study group were analyzed in computer environment by entering the results to the SPSS 21.0 program and then the findings were tabulated and interpreted. When considering the results of the study in general, it was seen that preservice teachers in the study group were successfully adapted to the university at the end of the study and that according to the persistency check done after 2 months following the completion of the study, persistency was achieved in terms of adaptation to university. In the light of these results, it is possible to argue that the orientation program developed with the creative drama method can help preservice teachers in their adaptation process to university. When the results of the study are taken into consideration, it may be suggested to support the adaptation programs to the university and to enhance the content of the adaptation programs with creative drama activities where possible.
