Nasreddin Hoca zekâsı ve bilgeliğiyle yüzyıllara direnmiş bir Türk filozofudur. Hoşgörü timsali olan Hoca, fıkralarında hayata her zaman olumlu tarafından bakmasını bilir. Halide Edib bu özellikleri sebebiyle Hoca’yı ‘fantezi piyes’i Maske ve Ruh’ta oyunun başkişisi olarak 21.yy. Akşehir’ine gönderir. Maddenin ruhtan daha çok önemsendiği bu çağda insanlar birbirlerine ‘birörnek’ maskeler kadar benzemektedirler. Halide Edib oluşturduğu bu sosyal manzarayla Maske ve Ruh’ta insanların giderek makineleştiği distopik bir dünya kurmuş olur. Kurduğu distopik manzaraya Nasreddin Hoca’yı yerleştiren yazar, onun fikirlerini bu yüzyılda gelişmiş düşünsel yönelimlerle kıyaslar ve onun aracılığıyla dünyayı hızla etkisi altına almaya başlayan ideolojik yönelimlerin eleştirisini yapar. Yazar, aynen Hoca gibi daha önce yaşamış başka isimleri de oyununa dâhil edip ‘ruhsuz’ bir topluma unuttuğu değerleri anımsatmaya çalışır. Bu incelemede öncelikle Maske ve Ruh’ta Nasreddin Hoca’nın bulunduğu yer konumlandırılmaya çalışılacaktır. Bu sayede kendi zamanından yüzyıllar sonrasında hayat bulan Hoca’nın 21.yy. şartlarında ele alınış biçimi yorumlanmış olacaktır. Sonrasında yazarın Maske ve Ruh ile vermek istediği mesaj üzerine odaklanılacak, oyun içinde materyalist dünya düzeni sebebiyle hayata bakışı değişmiş olan 21.yy. Türkiye’sinin bu yönleri eleştirel bir tutumla ele alınacaktır.
Nasreddin Hoca is a Turkish philosopher who has resisted for centuries with his wisdom and wisdom. The teacher, who is a tolerant timsali, knows that he always looks positively to life in his jokes. Halide Edib, due to these characteristics, made Hoca 'Fantastic Piece' as the protagonist of the game in the Mask and Spirit 21.yy. He sends to Akşehir. In this age, when the matter is more concerned about the spirit, people are similar to each other as "equivalent" masks. With this social view created by Halide Edib, a distopic world is created in the Mask and the Spirit where people are increasingly machining. The writer, who puts Nasreddin Hoca in his distopic view, compares his ideas with the advanced mental orientations of this century and makes criticism of the ideological orientations through him that began to quickly influence the world. The writer, just like Hoca, attempts to include other names that have lived before in the game and remind the values he has forgotten to a 'spiritual' society. In this review, we will first try to locate the place where Nasreddin Hoca is located in the Mask and Spirit. Thus, the 21st century of Hoca found life after centuries from his time. It will be interpreted under the conditions. Then the writer will focus on the message he wants to give with the Mask and the Spirit, the 21st century, which has changed his view of life due to the materialist world order in the game. This will be addressed with a critical attitude.
Nasreddin Hodja is a Turkish philosopher who have resisted for centuries with his intelligence and wisdom. Hodja, who has been the symbol of tolerance, knows how to look at life from the positive side in his anecdotes. Because of his these characteristics, Halide Edib sent Hoca as the protagonist of Maske ve Ruh which is her fantasy play to the 21st century’s Aksehir. In this age when matter is more important than spirit, people are as similar to each other like the same masks. Halide Edib builded a dystopic world that she created with this social landscape in which people are increasingly mechanised in Maske ve Ruh. The author who placed Nasreddin Hodja in the dystopic landscape, compared his ideas with the advanced intellectual orientations in this century and critized the ideological orientations that have begun to quickly influence the world through him. The author tried to remind the values that they had forgotten to a soulless society also by adding the other names who lived before like Hodja on her play. In this study, firstly, the location of Nasreddin Hodja in Maske ve Ruh will tried to be located. In this way, the approachment style to Hodja who came to life hundreds of years after his own life will have been interpreted. Afterwards, it will be focused on to the message which the author wanted to give with Maske ve Ruh, and these aspects that 21st century's Turkey of whose view of life had been changed because of materialist world order will be discussed.
