Günümüzde ülkelerin ihracat hacimlerinin büyüklüğünden ziyade, ihracatın kompozisyonu önem kazanmaktadır. Ekonomik karmaşıklık, ülkelerin ürettikleri sofistike ürünler ve ihraç ettikleri ürünlerin kompleksite derecesini göstermektedir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, yeni sanayileşen 10 ülkede (Çin, Brezilya, Meksika, Arjantin, Hindistan, Tayland, Malezya, Filipinler, Türkiye, Güney Afrika) 1990-2017 dönemleri arasında ekonomik karmaşıklık, finansal gelişme, sermaye yatırımları, doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımları ve patent başvurusu ilişkisini panel veri modelleri vasıtasıyla analiz etmektir. Çalışmada kullanılan değişkenlerde ve modelin genelinde yatay kesit bağımlılığının olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca serilerin birinci farklarında durağan oldukları gözlenmiştir. Eşbütünleşme testinde değişkenler arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisine rastlanılmamıştır. Konya (2006) nedensellik testinde ise, Çin ve Meksika’da doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımlarından ekonomik karmaşıklık endeksine doğru nedensellik ilişkisinin olduğu görülmüştür. Filipinler’de yerli patent başvurularından ekonomik karmaşıklığa doğru nedensellik ilişkisinin olduğu görülmüştür. Brüt sabit sermaye yatırımlarından ekonomik karmaşıklığa doğru herhangi bir nedensellik ilişkisine rastlanılmamıştır. Türkiye ve Meksika’da finansal gelişmeden ekonomik karmaşıklık endeksine doğru bir nedensellik ilişkisinin olduğu görülmüştür.
Today, instead of the size of export volumes of countries, the composition of exports is increasingly important. Economic complexity shows the degree of complexity of the sophisticated products that the countries produce and the products they export. The main objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between economic complexity, financial development, capital investments, foreign capital investments and patent application in 10 newly industrialized countries (China, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, India, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Turkey, South Africa) between the periods 1990-2017 through panel data models. The study has shown that the variables used in the model and the entire model have a horizontal cut dependency. They were also observed in the first divisions. In the matching test there was no matching relationship between the variables. The reasoning test of Konya (2006) found that there was a causing relationship between foreign capital investments directly in China and Mexico to the economic complexity index. In the Philippines, it has been shown that there is a causal relationship between domestic patent applications and economic complexity. There has been no causal relationship from gross fixed capital investments to economic complexity. In Turkey and Mexico, there has been a causal relationship from financial development to the economic complexity index.
