Abstract:

This research aims to determine how much high school students prefer the role models from different institutions and fields. The data of this study, at the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, were collected according to the survey applied to 700 high school students registered in Mersin Professional and Technical Anadolu High School, Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anadolu High School, Mahmut Arslan Anadolu High School, Dumlupınar Anadolu Imam Hatip High School, Fatma Aliye Professional and Technical Anadolu High School and Mersin Professional and Technical Anadolu High School "Role Model Preferences of High School Students". The opinions of high school students who participated in the study on who they prefer as a role model were studied by the statistical techniques of the frequency and percentage imaging by monitoring the research subproblems. The findings of the study show high school students’ media celebrity’s preferential ethics as a high-role role model. High school students have found that the rates of preference of family individuals, historical characters, persons in the professional professional group, scientists, teachers, literary characters and writers as role models are at a low level. The high school students have seen that the rates of preference of politicians, religious figures, people around their friends as role models are quite low. It has been found that high school students prefer series and film actors, musicians and athletes as role models most in the media field, respectively.
