Abstract:

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on the one hand contributes to the globalization of their products, while on the other hand are the leading sectors affected by the process. The industry’s innovative, widespread and rapidly developing performance attracts interest worldwide. The dynamism derived from the specific features of ICTs enables competition in the industry to occur globally, while also increases the level of globalization of the industry. In literature, the globalization of industries is ranked from multi-local to global integration. In order to determine the place of the Turkish ICT sector in this range, under the headline of the default telecommunications devices and computer devices that the sector represents, the export, import and production data of Turkey have been used. These data covering the years 2000-2007 were provided by the Turkish Electronic Industries Association. The Turkish ICT sector appears to be on a simple global level in an integrated globalization from multilateral to global. Although they are external connections, the fact that they are largely from the outside to the inside constitutes a barrier to the industry’s integrated-global approach. The Turkish ICT industry, located in a simple global stage, is characterized by high international trade levels with industrial trade determined by low exports. In addition to the existence of exports of some ICT products to foreign countries, the priority of the sector is still the Turkish market.
