Abstract:

The dictionary science research in Turkey began systematically during the Republic period. The dictionary tradition, which was formed until the period of the Republic, was the source of dictionary work and research in this period. Dictionary science studies have been enriched and set in the theoretical framework with computer-backed studies in the last centuries in the West. In the work done in Turkey, the work on the theoretical framework was more recent, but more work was done in the dictionary writing and application field. There are also a number of deficiencies in this study. In general, in addition to the lack of vocabulary scientific studies on Turkish, the theoretical studies on oral dictionaries are even less. In recent years, the number of studies on dictionary science and especially oral dictionary has increased to address this deficiency. Most of these studies are on method errors seen in oral dictionaries and oral dictionaries. Especially in the Turkish Dictionary (TS). Working on labeled dictionary units is rare. These studies should be developed and compared with the Assembly Dictionary (DS), which is a reference to the Turkish oral dictionaries, and the approaches of both dictionaries to define the words taken from the public oral. The words in the Turkish dictionary from the people's mouth have previously been valuable. The study is not at a sufficient level. In terms of the development of the Turkish dictionary science, it is of great importance to compare the general dictionaries and oral dictionaries. In our work for this purpose, the defining topic, which is one of the problems of the Turkish dictionary, will be addressed comparatively by examining the words taken from the public mouth through TS and DS, which are the important dictionaries of Turkish.
