So many results that aren't mine?

Abstract:

Biology is one of the most effective disciplines to understand the dimensions of environmental problems today and to create solutions to these problems In this study the attitudes of under graduate students’ at ÇÜ the Department of Biology investigated for environmental knowledge and environmental problems and whether their attitudes vary significantly depending on some variables The total of 212 students participated in the study The data were collected in the Spring Semester of 2007 2008 academic years As data collection tools the Environmental Attitude Inventory and the Environmental Knowledge Test were used For the analysis of the data t test and variance analysis were done The results based on the mean values showed that female students’ behaviors and attitudes for environment were more positive although male students’ environmental knowledge was found better The level of environmental knowledge was found significantly higher as the grade level of students was higher whereas 1st year students’ environmental behavior was found more positive than the rest of the group Concerning the education level of parents the results also show that there were significant differences among students’ environmental concerns according to the education level of fathers The students who had environmental courses before had more positive environmental behaviours Key words: Environmental education environmental knowledge environmental attitude students of the Department of Biology
