Abstract:

This study, which aims a sustainable agricultural technique, was carried out in a farmer's garden located in Aydınlar Village of Giresun province between 2016 and 2019 to investigate the effects of living and non-living mulch materials on weed growth and plant nutrients in organic kiwifruit production. As living mulch materials, covering plants, hazelnut husk + straw and weeds were cut and transfered on the soil. Geotextile cover was used as non-living mulch material. In the weed samplings carried out in the study, the largest biomass was obtained in the control application. This application was followed by the plot where the cover crop was applied. In the study; yield, fruit weight, fruit width, fruit length, weed density, weed fresh and dry weight parameters and soil and leaf nutrient contents were examined. As a result of our work to minimize these negativities; at least biomass was obtained from the parcels where geotextile was applied and the contribution of mulch applications to weed management was demonstrated. When the soil organic matter values were examined, it was determined that it varied between 3.07% (cover crop) and 3.48% (control-form).
