Abstract:

The texts belonging to the folk literature type known as "risalah", which were written in the field of Turkestan between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, reflect many elements of the sound, form and especially the vocabulary of the Turkish dialects spoken in the regions where they were written. Although some of the anonymous manuscripts in the type of risalah, which have copies in many libraries around the world, have been published, there are still many manuscripts waiting to be published and studied. In this article, a professional risalah, which has not been the subject of any study before and the text of which has not been published, is discussed. In the introduction part of this study, the type of risalah and the collections in which manuscripts are included were generally mentioned. In the study, first of all, the manuscript copy registered with the archive number Ms. or. oct. 1658 in the Hartmann Collection of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Department of the Berlin State Library was described and why the copy was named “Risalah-i Qoychilik" (A Risalah on Sheep Breeding) was mentioned. Then, the translation of the manuscript and its transfer to Turkish were given. In the transcript section, some distinctive language features of the manuscript were expressed in the conclusion part of the study. The images of the manuscript were not included at the end of the article since the link of the digital collection of the relevant library was shared.
