Abstract:

This study aimed to develop a test to determine the knowledge levels of secondary school 5th grade students about Olympic values. 320 students, 176 girls (Mage= 11.72, S= 0.83), 144 boys (Mage= 11.50, S= 0.7) from five different secondary schools in Istanbul, participated in this study. The Olympic Values Knowledge Test was aimed to measure the knowledge of 6 subjects related to 12 learning outcomes. The table of specifications and an 80 multiple-choice questions test were prepared in order to measure the achievements and topics in the table of specifications. The trial test form was presented to the opinion of seven experts. The agreement of expert opinions was calculated by the Miles and Huberman consensus-disagreement formula. The agreement among experts was 83.4%. The 80-questions test form prepared was applied to the students in physical education and sports classes. Item analyzes were made based on the data obtained. The reliability of the test was calculated by using Kuder-Richard 20 formula. As a result of the analysis, 26 items with the highest item discrimination power (> 0.39) and medium difficulty (0.40-0.60) were determined for the final test, which examined each outcome in the table of specifications. The arithmetic means of the 26-item knowledge test, was 15,81, mean difficulty was 0,61, and standard deviation of the test was 6,02. The KR-20 reliability coefficient calculated for the knowledge test was found to be 0,87. It can be concluded that knowledge test was valid and reliable in determining the knowledge level of fifth grade students about Olympic values.
