Farklı Kültürlerin Bulunduğu Bir Okul Ortamında Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrencilerin Karşılaştıkları Sorunların Çokkültürlülük Bağlamında İncelenmesi

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriye-ti’nde bulunan çok kültürlü bir ortama sahip devlet kolejin-de öğrenim gören yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin, okul orta-mında yaşadıkları sorunları yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler ve öğretmenler gözünden ortaya koymak ve çözüm önerileri geliştirmektir. Araştırma, göç etmiş çocukların uyum süre-cinde sorumluluk sahibi olan öğretmenlerin ve bizzat uyum sürecinin başrolünde olan öğrencilerin gözünden yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin yaşadıkları sorunları belirlemesi ve çözüm önerileri sunması bakımından önemli görülmekte ve hem uygulamaya hem de çok kültürlü programlan gelişti-rilmesine yönelik yapılacak çalışmalarda katkı sağlayıcı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında KKTC’de bir devlet kole-jinde görev yapan 15 yabancı uyruklu öğrenci ve 15 öğret-mendir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, araş-tırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen açık uçlu sorulardan olu-şan yarı yapılandırılmış iki görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Veri analizini gerçekleştirmek için betimsel ve içerik anali-zinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin eğitim-öğretim sürecinde bazı sorunlar yaşadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Bu sorunların en başında dil, kültür farklılığı, dersle ilgilenmeme, öğretimden kopma ve uyum problemleridir.

Review of the problems that foreign students face in a school environment with different cultures in the context of multiculturalism

Abstract:

The purpose of this research was to detect the problems experienced by foreign students studying in a state college which has a multicultural environment in the Turkish Re-public of Northern Cyprus with the point of view of the students and teachers and to suggest some solutions. The research was considered important in terms of identifying the problems experienced by foreign students in the point of view them and their teachers. It is thought that detection of the problems will contribute to the studies for both the deva-lopment and application of multicultural programs. The sample of the research is 15 foreign students and 15 teac-hers who work in state college in the TRNC, in the academic year 2017-2018. The research was designed as a case study from qualitative research methods. In the study, data were collected by two semi-structured interview forms consisting of open-ended questions developed by the researchers. Descriptive and content analyses were used to perform data analysis. As a result of the research, it was determined that students had some problems related with foreign students. The major of these problems were language, culture diffe-rences, lack of interest in teaching/learning process, and adaptation problems.
