Abstract:

In this study, it is aimed to determine the relationship between prospective Turkish teachers’ questioning skills and their attitudes towards the reading habit. Singular and relational screening model was used in the study. 130 volunteer prospective Turkish teachers studying at the Turkish Education department of a state university constitute the study group. In the research, "Questioning Skills Scale" developed by Aldan Karademir and Saracaloğlu 2013 and "Prospective Teachers’ Attitudes Towards The Reading Habit Scale" developed by Susar Kırmızı 2012 were used. The data were analyzed through a statistical program. As a result of the research, it was determined that the prospective Turkish teachers had a high level of questioning skills and the skills did not differ significantly in gender, class, mother’s and father’s education levels. In addition, it was found that prospective Turkish teachers’ attitudes towards the reading habit were at a high level, there was no significant difference in the class and education levels of parents, but they differed by gender. Furthermore, it was found that the relationship between prospective Turkish teachers’ questioning skills and their attitudes towards the reading habit was not statistically significant.
