Abstract:

Political stability is an integral element of economic development today. In democratic systems, the presence of private interest groups in the decision-making process affects the distribution of resources and the efficiency of public policies, influencing the political stability. In the fields that are affected by public policies, environmental regulations come. In addition, the demand for improving the quality of the environment in the context of improving the living standards of communities is also increasing in the development process. At this point, the relationship between environmental quality and corporate quality indicators gain a distinct importance. This study, using data from the 2000-2015 period, examined the impact of political stability on environmental deterioration in N-11 countries (Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, South Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam). The findings show that as political stability increases, environmental disruption decreases. Political stability improves environmental quality. Economic growth also has a positive impact on environmental degradation while renewable energy consumption has a negative impact on environmental degradation.
