Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde yer alan “Ülkemizin Kaynakları” ünitesindeki çevre sorunları konusunun öğretiminde karikatürlerin kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına ve tutumuna etkisini araştırmaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2014-2015 eğitim öğretim yılının ikinci yarısında Afyonkarahisar ili Emirdağ ilçesinde bulunan bir ortaokulun 6. sınıfında öğrenim gören 40 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiş çoktan seçmeli 24 soruluk “Çevre Sorunlarına Yönelik Başarı Testi” ve Artun ve Özsevgeç (2012) tarafından geliştirilen “Çevre Eğitimi Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programıyla analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde çevre sorunlarının öğretiminde karikatür tekniğinin kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarılarında anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturduğu, öğrenci tutumlarının aritmetik ortalamasında ise belirgin bir artış sağladığı görülmüştür.
The aim of this study is to explore the impact of the use of cartoons on the academic achievements and attitudes of students in the teaching of the environmental issues in the "Resources of our country" unit of the 6th grade of high school students in the Social Information course. The study group consists of 40 students who studied in the 6th grade of a second school located in the Afyonkarahisar or Emirdağ district in the second half of the 2014-2015 educational year. The research has used already selectively developed by researchers as a data collection tool 24 questions "Environmental Problems Success Test" and "Environmental Education Attitude Scale" developed by Artun and Özsevgeç (2012). The data received was analyzed with the SPSS package program. The analysis found that the use of cartoon technique in the teaching of environmental issues in the Social Information course has made a significant difference in student academic achievements, and that the student attitudes have made a significant increase in the arithmetic average.
