Abstract:

Today, the need for qualified individuals with 21st century talents in all fields is frequently emphasized. The events in the world known as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and translated to Turkish as FETEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) are one of the most discussed fields in recent years especially in the field of education. Cizre was a great scientist who was born in 1153 in the district of Tor and was considered the greatest inventor of the Siberian field in his studies using engineering, mathematics, geometry and art. It is possible to see the examples of the El-Cezerî works. That’s why this research was done to investigate the impact of El-Cezerî and their studies on the attitudes of high school students to STEM. In the study, a single-group pre-test -first test experimental pattern was used. In the study conducted with 33 students studying at a professional and technical Anatolian high school in the autumn 2019 period, the data were collected with the STEM-oriented attitude scale. The obtained data was analyzed by statistically dependent samples with T-test. The results of the study have been found that El-Cezerî and his studies have improved the attitudes of students towards STEM in a positive perspective. The existence of STEM activities in the studies of the great scientist who lived centuries ago has been inspired by the students in this direction and has been experimentally proven.
