Abstract:

The aim of this study is to adapt the Workplace Ostracism (Workplace Ostracism) scale, developed by Ferris, Brown, Berry and Lian (2008) to Turkish for teachers working in schools. The study’s work group was determined according to Statistical Regional Units Classification 1 (IBBS-1). According to IBBS-1, 343 teachers from every region of Turkey, divided into 12 regions, who work in public primary, secondary and high school have been included in the work. In the scale adjustment process, the expert opinion was first requested for language validity. The linguistic equality of the measurement is provided by correlation analysis. The structure validity of the measurement is studied by the AFA and the verifying factor analysis (DFA). According to the results of the AFA, the scale provided a single-dimensional structure of 10 substances as in the original. With DFA this single-factor structure has been established that the model conformity index is at a good level. To determine the reliability of the measurement, the total correlation of the substance, the Cronbach alpha ratio and the test re-test method were used. According to these calculations, the internal consistency of the scale is secured. This study has found that the workplace extraction scale is a reliable and valid measurement tool for the investigation of teachers' extraction behavior in Turkey.
