Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine the attitudes of computer technologies department students towards computer programming in terms of various variables. The study group of the research in the survey model was determined according to easily accessible case sampling. The study group includes second-year students studying at Erciyes University Develi Vocational School Computer Technologies department in the 2017-2018 academic year. "Attitude Scale towards Computer Programming" developed by Başer (2013) was used as a data collection tool in the research. The reliability coefficient of the scale, which consists of 38 items and 4 sub-factors in a 5-point Likert type, is 0.953. In the analysis of the data, first the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was applied to determine the normality of the data. Afterwards, statistical analyzes were conducted to determine whether there were any significant differences in students' attitudes towards computer programming in terms of gender, type of high school graduated and program variables. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students had a high level of attitude towards computer programming. It was determined that female students had a higher level of attitude towards success and social perception of success in programming than male students. Likewise, it has been revealed that students who graduated from vocational high schools have a higher level of attitude towards success in programming and the social perception of success.
