The purpose of this study is to study the quality of life of university students according to the conditions of exercise. The sample of the study consists of 2923 of the total 10646 students (1648 women, 1275 men) studying in the various faculty and higher schools of Sinop University. The sampling was selected with a simple random sampling method to represent each faculty and college and the surveys were implemented in the spring period 2017-2018. As a data collection tool, the personal information form has been used with the Quality of Life Scale (WHOQOL-BRIEF). The data was tested by the Independent-Sample T-Test. In all statistical calculations, the SPSS 21.0 V package program was used and p<0.05 was considered meaningful. The study found that 24.3 percent of university students (n=711) exercised regularly and 75.7 percent (n=2212) did not exercise regularly. There has been significant differences in the scale of quality of life and in the lower dimensions in favour of those who exercise (p<0,05). In terms of gender variation, the difference between the low dimensions of the quality of life and the "spiritual area" is determined in favor of male students (p<0,05). Our study has studied the impact of regular exercise on the quality of life and found that the quality of life of participants who exercise regularly is higher. Understanding the importance of regular exercise by giving students the necessary training throughout the course of study and ensuring them to make exercise a behavior and lifestyle will play an important role in improving the quality of life of students.
The aim of the study was to investigate the Quality of life of University students in terms of exercise status. The total 2923 of 10646 students (1648 female, 1275 male) were participated to study from different Faculties and Vocational Schools in Sinop University. Sample number was determined with randomly and survey forms were applied in spring semester of 2017-2018. Quality of Life Scale (WHOQOL-BREF) were used to collect data. Independent samples t-test was used to analyses in SPSS 21.0 V Statistical Package program and p<0, 05 level of statistical significance. It was determined that 24, 3 % (711) of students exercise regularly and 75, 7 % (2212) of them don’t any exercise regularly. Quality of Life Scale and in sub-dimensions has shown statistically significant difference in participants who exercise regularly (p<0,05). As one of the sub-dimension of quality of life in respect to gender variable, ‘mental’ has shown statistical significance in males (p<0,05). In conclusion, quality of life of the students exercise regularly was found higher. Moreover, informing them about the importance of regular exercise with basic instructions will have a pivotal role in improving the quality of life.
