Abstract:

The periodicals are one of the most important written sources of military history. Many newspapers and magazines have been published in the process of history by various units and institutions of the Turkish Armed Forces, which has a deep-rooted history. One of the most important representatives of the military publishing activities today is the periodical published by the Air Force Command under the name of “Air Force Magazine”. The core of the aforementioned journal is “Vakayi ve Terakkiyât-ı Havaiyye”, which started to be published in 1917. In the historical process, the named of magazine as Military Air Periodical, Military Air Magazine, Air Magazine, Air Periodical and Air Force Magazine, it is remarkable to be published with similar content in the World War I, The War of Independence (National Struggle Period) and the World War II in spite of some interruptions. Again this magazine can be considered as a bridge between the Late Ottoman Period and the Republican Period. In this article; it is aimed to contribute to the studies in the field of Turkish aviation history and content by providing information about the history and publishing of the Air Force Magazine, which contributes to influential in the development of Turkish Aviation and the formation of culture of institution.
