Abstract:

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the five-factor personality traits of school administrators working in primary education institutions and their levels of work engagement. For this purpose, the relational screening model was used in the study. The universe of the research consists of 928 school administrators working in public primary and secondary schools in the central districts of Diyarbakır (Bağlar, Kayapınar, Sur, Yenişehir) in the 2021-2022 academic year. The sample consists of 478 school administrators, whose simple random sampling method was chosen. Big Five Personality Traits Scale and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. In the research, the relationship between the five-factor personality traits dataset consisting of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to development variables and the work engagement dataset consisting of vigor, dedication, and absorption variables was examined by canonical correlation analysis. As a result of the canonical correlation analysis, a significant relationship was found between the five-factor personality traits and work engagement, and the shared variance among the data sets was 50.8%.
