Abstract:

Within the scope of the Turkish Health System Health Transformation Project, family medicine practice has been implemented, and accordingly, home care services have gained prominence as an alternative form of service delivery as they can be provided at low costs. Although the comprehensive cost analysis studies for home health services in Turkey are limited, studies conducted in different countries show that especially telemedicine-supported home health care system reduces the costs of health services. The aim of this study is to analyze the economic aspect, financing method, and costs of telemedicine-supported home health services from the perspective of health economics. For this purpose, in order to contribute to the deficiency in the field, an evaluation of tele-medicine supported home health services has been presented within the framework of the data on the population and epidemiological structure and scientific studies both in the world and in Turkey. Telemedicine-supported home health services might cause high costs during the establishment phase. However, it provides the opportunity to provide services at more affordable costs compared to the health care service offered in the hospital.
