Abstract:

TRA2 is one of the 26 IBBS level-2 regions in Turkey. Today, there are 1 million 118 thousand people living in the region, which equals 1.4 percent of the country’s population. This study examined the development of the population in the TRA2 region, which covers the provinces of Pain, Ardahan, Iğdır and Kars between the years 2007-2019, as well as the change in the demographic structure of some variables, such as the rate of immigration, raw birth and raw deaths that affect the population development. Despite the natural increase between 2007-2019 in the TRA2 level-2 region, the population has decreased by about 19 thousand (2%) due to the net immigration rate of low values. In the region, variables such as raw birth, raw death, natural growth rate and total fertility rate have been seen to decrease in recent years. In recent years, depending on the total fertility rate and the decrease in raw birth rates, the region’s demographic structure has also changed. In the region where the rate of children’s population is increasing, the rate of the population in the working age and the rate of the elderly population is increasing. From the provinces of Ardahan to 15% and Kars to 10% the ageing population rate is attracted. Especially in Ardahan, it is observed that the population has experienced a rapid aging process in recent years. The pain and itching are reduced in 12 years, but the high rate of child population is attracted.
