Abstract:

The armed conflict in Colombia, which began in 1964 with the FARC-EP, ended with the peace agreement, which was signed in 2016 with the title "The Final Convention to End the Armed Conflict and Build a Stable and Continuous Peace", and the peace process began. The way to permanent peace is the implementation of the peace agreement and the provision of social, political and economic transformations to solve the problems left from the conflict period. The Colombian government and the FARC-EP have set a target period of 15 years to complete the implementation of the peace agreement. The six main articles of the Agreement are: comprehensive agricultural reform; political participation; ending armed conflict; solving the illicit drug issue; agreement on the victims; implementation, verification and public approval. If the implementation of the treaty is not completed, the foreseeable transformations will not be sufficient to permanent peace. In this study, the speed of implementation of the six main articles of the agreement and the transformations that begin in the social, political and economic field "Can the process of peace building in Colombia be promoted in a positive progress?" The question has been examined. The obstacles to the peace building were also discussed. In this context, it has been found that in the implementation of the four basic Articles of the Agreement the goal remains quite below. However, the targeted social, political and economic transformations have been observed with positive progress.
