Bu çalışma, paternalist devlet (müdahaleci devlet) anlayışı çerçevesinde düzenlenen sigara uyarı etiketlerinin sigarayı bırakma davranışı üzerindeki etkisini dikkat, negatif etki, sosyal etkileşim, uyarıyı düşünme değişkenleri ile incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaçla sigara kullanan Gümüşhane Üniversitesi öğrencilerinden kolayda örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen 209 katılımcının yer aldığı çalışma yapısal eşitlik modeli ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar sosyal etkileşim ile uyarıyı düşünme uyarı ve dikkat negatif etki ve sosyal etkileşim arasında pozitif ve güçlü bir ilişkinin olduğunu göstermektedir. Ek olarak dikkat, uyarıyı düşünme, negatif etki ve sosyal etkileşim değişkenlerinin sigarayı bırakma davranışı üzerinde dolaylı ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olduğu görülmüştür.
This study aims to measure the effect of warning labels on cigarette packages on smoking cessation behavior with the variables of attention, negative effect, social interaction, and stimulus thinking within the framework of the paternalistic approach. The study, which included 209 smokers studying at Gumushane University, was analyzed with the structural equation model. The results obtained from the study show that there is a positive and strong relationship between social interaction and stimulus thinking, alert and attention, negative influence and social interaction. In addition, it is seen that the variables of attention, stimulus thinking, negative effect and social interaction have an indirect and statistically significant effect on smoking cessation behavior.
