Abstract:

The efficiency and performances of innovation activities are becoming more important in a world where technical advancements, globalization, and competitiveness levels are increasing day by day. The success of the countries in their innovation efficiency and performance shows their adaptation to the constantly developing technology. Thus, countries need to perform high success in innovation activities in order to increase their economic development and competitiveness. The aim of this study is to measure the innovation performance of member countries of OECD in 2021. In the study, the importance levels of the criteria were determined by the CRITIC method, and then the innovation performances of the countries were evaluated with the OCRA method. In the Global Innovation Index report; twenty-one sub-criteria of institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, business sophistication, creative outputs, knowledge and technology outputs were used. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the most important sub-criteria was ecological sustainability. Switzerland, Sweden and the USA were the top performers in terms of global innovation performance. In addition, the countries with the lowest innovation performance were Colombia, Chile and Costa Rica.
