Abstract:

From the existence of mankind to the present day, the products formed in human hands and which may be in nature for much longer than mankind have preserved their existence in a potential state to be reused in the same or different function in general. Due to its durability and durability, the state of reuse of stone materials has become unavoidable. In the Anatolian geography, the wrapping material widely used in every type of structure is present with different uses. In this case, the reuse of the materials of different cultures, as well as the materials of the same period or cultures, must be reused at least twice. In Anatolian Christian architecture, reuse of materials collected from previously existing structures or structural components is quite common. In the content of this widespread use, in the interior of the architectural structure, the size, shape, type of stones that draw attention is different in terms of cross-processed stones are also an example of the use of rotating materials. In this study, the aim is to introduce identified cross-processed stone samples that were reused in the monastery structures in Van. For this purpose, 12 pieces of rotating cross-processed stones located on the front and wall surfaces of the structures have been studied in terms of location, layer, material and technical. These visual and technically documented stone plastics are also evaluated by comparing with samples used in similar cases.
